Some weddings move across three completely different spaces in a single day, and this one did exactly that. Getting ready at Hostess House, a ceremony at Harborside Chapel, and a reception at The District. Three venues, three very different atmospheres, and a couple who put real thought into how their guests moved between all of them.
Getting Ready at Hostess House
The girls got ready at Hostess House, a historic 1930s bungalow tucked into St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District. It’s a small, vintage-charm space rather than a typical hotel suite, and that comes through in the photos. Real character in the walls, the light, and the details, instead of a blank hotel room backdrop. Being walking distance to the shops and restaurants along Central Avenue also makes it an easy, low-stress spot for a bridal party to settle into for the morning.
The Ceremony at Harborside Chapel
The ceremony took place at Harborside Chapel in Safety Harbor, a ceremony-only venue known for its white pews, chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with natural light. It’s a bright, airy space which tends to let the couple, the florals, and the emotion of the moment stay the visual focus rather than competing with the room itself. Because Harborside Chapel doesn’t handle catering or reception logistics, it’s built specifically for the ceremony portion of the day, which also makes for a clean, unhurried timeline before everyone heads to the next stop.
The Reception at The District
From there, the celebration moved to The District in Clearwater, a modern event space with two ballrooms, a stage, and a great dance floor. Unlike the chapel, The District is built entirely around the party. No curfews, no sound restrictions, and a layout designed to keep the energy going well into the night. The contrast between the chapel’s quiet, light-filled ceremony and the District’s high-energy reception gave this wedding a real sense of range across the day, rather than every part of it feeling the same.
Guest Experience: The Trolley
One of my favorite details of this wedding was about the guests. Rather than leaving everyone to figure out directions and parking between two different venues, the couple arranged a trolley to shuttle guests from the ceremony to the reception, while sipping on champagne.
It’s a small addition, but it changes the entire feel of the day for the people attending. Guests didn’t have to think about traffic, parking, or being on time to the next stop. They got to stay present in the celebration instead of managing logistics. That’s worth remembering when you’re planning a wedding across multiple venues: the experience isn’t just about how the day looks in photos, it’s about how it feels to the people you invited. A thoughtful transportation plan, a welcome moment, a small detail that makes guests feel taken care of. These are the things people remember and talk about long after the wedding itself, sometimes more than the design.
Dance Floor Photos, Lit by the DJ
One more thing worth mentioning from this wedding: the reception photos. I’ve been leaning more and more into shooting the dance floor using the DJ’s own lighting instead of an off-camera flash, and it’s changed how those images feel. Flash tends to flatten a dance floor. Everyone lit the same way, the room going dark around them. Working with the DJ’s lighting instead means the colors, the movement, and the actual energy of the room come through in the photos the way people actually experienced it. It takes a little more technical care to shoot that way, but the results feel far closer to what it was actually like to be there. Which, at the end of the day, is the whole point of a wedding gallery.
