This engagement session took place aboard a sailboat on Tampa Bay, departing from downtown St. Petersburg’s Harborage Marina, with the city skyline as a backdrop for most of the shoot.
Sessions like this typically happen in the morning, and that’s by design rather than preference. St. Pete Sailing Charters, known on Instagram as Sailing Satori, books their photoshoot sails earlier in the day, and Florida weather tends to reward that timing. Mornings on Tampa Bay are usually calmer, with steadier wind and clearer skies, before afternoon heat builds into the thunderstorms this area is known for. Booking early keeps the session on schedule and avoids the weather risk that creeps in as the day goes on.
It also means working with genuinely good light for most of the session, without the harsh overhead sun of midday.
