Engagement Photos Tampa FL | Tampa Theatre, The Vault, and Sacred Heart

Engagements

I love a good urban, run-around-town, downtown engagement session. The mix of historic architecture, busy streets, and quiet tucked away corners gives you so much variety without ever needing to drive far. This session felt especially meaningful because it blended iconic Tampa locations with places that are deeply personal to this couple.

We kicked things off at the Tampa Theatre, which is always a favorite starting point for downtown Tampa engagement photos. The marquee alone makes such a statement, but we were also lucky enough to step inside for a few photos. I brought out the flash and leaned into a more editorial feel for those shots. The texture, the lighting, and the old Hollywood vibe inside the theatre paired perfectly with the energy of an engagement session. It felt cinematic in the best way.

From there, we took a slow walk down Franklin Street. This is one of those stretches downtown that gives you a little bit of everything. I love letting sessions unfold naturally like this. Walking gives couples time to relax, laugh, and forget about the camera, which is always my goal. As an engagement photographer in Tampa, I find that the best moments usually happen in between locations, not just at them.

We made a stop at The Vault for a champagne pop, which added such a fun, celebratory moment to the session. Champagne pops always loosen things up and give us photos that feel joyful and real. It is also a great way to personalize engagement photos so they feel like a reflection of the couple rather than a checklist of poses.

Our final stop was Sacred Heart, which made this session extra special. This is where Elizabeth & Devin will be getting married next year, so ending their engagement photos there felt full circle. There is something really powerful about photographing a couple in a space that already holds so much meaning for their future. Sacred Heart is stunning in its own right, but knowing this is where they will say their vows brought a deeper emotional layer to the images.

Throughout the session, I shot a mix of film and digital. I photographed on 35mm and 120mm film alongside my digital cameras, which is one of my favorite ways to work. Film slows things down in the best way. It makes every frame intentional, and it captures color, light, and emotion so beautifully. Pairing film with digital gives my couples the best of both worlds. You get the timeless, romantic feel of film along with the versatility and consistency of digital. It is a big part of what defines my approach as one of the engagement photographers Tampa couples come to when they want something elevated but still true to life.

Downtown Tampa engagement photos always offer so much creative freedom. From grand landmarks like the Tampa Theatre to intimate moments on quiet streets, the city gives us endless opportunities to tell a story. This session felt relaxed, intentional, and deeply personal, which is exactly how engagement photos should feel.
