There’s something incredibly special about a wedding that brings together sacred tradition and intimate celebration. John and Molly’s Portland wedding was exactly that. Molly and her bridesmaids prepared for the day at a charming Airbnb, where they spent the night before the wedding. These getting ready moments are always some of my favorites to capture. The quiet anticipation, the shared laughter, and the tender moments of support that happen when women who love each other come together for such an important day.
The wedding began at Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where John and Molly exchanged vows in a ceremony rich with tradition and reverence. The Orthodox wedding service carries such profound beauty, and witnessing their commitment within this sacred space set the tone for the entire celebration. There’s an undeniable elegance in ceremonies that honor both faith and love, creating moments that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered at the groom’s family home for the cocktail hour & reception. There’s something uniquely warm about celebrating in a space that holds family memories and personal history. The residence was absolutely perfect. The couple had a tent brought in to shade guests as the sun was setting and strung up lights to provide the perfect ambient lighting.
What made this Portland wedding particularly meaningful to photograph was John and Molly’s desire for both posed portraits and candid documentation. This approach allowed me to focus extensively on capturing their guests. Documenting the different relationships, conversations, and connections that made their celebration so rich. Every wedding is ultimately about the gathering of love, and this celebration perfectly exemplified that truth.
